No words can describe the sadness felt by the Manasota 10-13 membership when we learned of the unexpected, recent passing of our beloved President

Anthony, "Tony" Marone.

Tony's dedication as club president was unwavering- always had up-to-date information for both retirees and active members of the force, be it health or financial matters, Tony was always a Citadel of knowledge for everyone.  He also strongly encouraged club social and recreational outings for club members and their families on a regular basis. Tony was a proud member of the Florida FOP Lodge #3, as well as the Florida chapter of the Blue Knights. Furthermore, no matter which club he was in, Tony had that rare gift of making all those around him feel welcome, be they young, old, veterans, "rookies," or "outsiders" (Non-NYPD retirees).

Not content to "throw in the badge" after retiring from the NYPD in the 1980s, Tony began a second career with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, and became the Chief of the Sarasota Airport Police for a number of years.

Tony, a native Staten Islander, enjoyed motorcycling, the NY Yankees, collecting model trains and Police memorabilia, and always made sure his "man cave" at home was more sterile than any hospital operating room ever was.

Tony was married to the love of his life, Johanna, his bride of over 50 years, who was also a native Staten Islander. They had three children, Paul, Jon, and Lori, and many grandchildren spread across the Eastern Seaboard.  Our deepest condolences to the entire extended Marone family; Rest in Peace, dear friend- we know the Manasota 10-13 Club always meant a lot to you, but we hope you always knew how much YOU meant to the Manasota 10-13 Club.

Excelsior, Tony! There's no doubt that the Saint's Michael and Peter welcomed you behind the pearly gates with a simple, two-word salutation; "Well done”.

“Louis Lebron 7.4.1950 - 1.19.2021

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, our Hero, Louis “Lou” or “Louie” Lebron, on January 19th, 2021 in Sarasota Florida, after a long battle of Covid-19. Lou left this world in peace surrounded by his wife Rose, two sons Michael and Marc, daughter-in-law Maura, and in the thoughts and prayers of daughter-in-law Lenore.

Lou was born on July 4th 1950 in Manhattan N.Y. to Aurea and Louis Lebron second to Sister Ida Lebron. Later in childhood Lou became step-son of Ida Lebron and brother of Andre Lebron of Bronx N.Y., where he was raised. Lou graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School of N.Y. and attended Bronx Community College.

Lou was a serial hobbyist. Early in his years he was an avid racer, frequenting National Speedway racing his 1969 Z28. He played the drums in a band with band members who remained dear lifelong friends. Lou was also an avid Ham Radio operator achieving a General class FCC license. His hobbies didn’t end there as later in life he took a passion to all things computing, starting his own company Group 3 Micro Systems with another lifelong friend.

Lou’s proudest moment and lifelong aspiration was when he graduated from the NYPD Police Academy in December of 1981. He spent the majority of his career crime fighting as an NYPD Police Officer on the streets of Jamaica, NY. Lou received numerous awards and medals with a few notable achievements in the public eye for his brave efforts. Later in his NYPD career he patrolled the highways of the Bronx in Highway Patrol 1 from where he ended his 20 year tenure.

Lou retired to Venice, Florida in 2001, where he built his dream home and made a new life with his love Rose. During 9/11 he returned to public service being deputized and volunteering as a Deputy Sheriff in Manatee County. Throughout his later years Lou volunteered with the American Red Cross and Charlotte Counties Sheriff’s department as a parking enforcement officer. He was also actively involved as a board member of the Manasota 1013 Association, a club for retired NYPD.

Lou is survived by his childhood love and wife Rose, of 49 years. Lou and Rose met when they were young children, dated as teenagers and married on November 5th 1972; truly a lifelong love affair. Lou and Rose had two children, Michael and Marc, grandchildren, Cavan and Samantha, and loving Daughter-in-law’s Maura and Lenore. Aside from being survived by his wife, kids and grandkids, Lou leaves behind his sister Ida Lebron, brother Andre Lebron and step-mother Ida Lebron. Lou has many other surviving relatives and friends who loved and cared for him deeply.

Lou was a servant to the public, to his family and his friends and will always be known as our hero. He is at peace and can now rest watching over his loved ones for eternity.
